We gathered a work party to start clearing ground for the first stage of the new safe footpath and cycle route between Cross and Axbridge. Michael Clements, who owns a piece of land at the notorious A38/A371 crossroads, has kindly said he is open to the campaign using part of his field for the new route. The required space has been marked out with pegs and on Saturday several of us, armed with a chainsaw, loppers, rakes, saws and a billhook began work clearing the overgrown hedge, brambles and nettles at the edge of the field.
